The popular Nerite snails is checkered with variable markings that make it an attractive addition to the reef tank. In addition to good looks, the Nerite Snail is a voracious consumer of detritus, algae and especially diatoms and cyanobacteria - including Lyngbya. These snails are excellent for cleaning the rocks and glass of your aquarium, and get along well with others. They will not consume display macro algae.

The small-medium sized Nerite snails we ship are about the size of an American dime, or smaller. Nerites can grow to the size of an American quarter, and reach a height of about an inch. They grow quickly, reaching adult size within four months.

If we are unable to fill your order with small-medium Nerites, we will automatically upgrade the rest of the order by filling it with larger Nerites. If you would prefer only small Nerites, please let us know. All Nerites have a tendency to want to climb out of the water a little. They should be kept in tanks with lids, or with thick lips on the rim of the tank. This will keep them in and cleaning.
